Visiting researchers (PhDs)

The Juan Linz Institute welcomes international researchers who wish to apply for a visiting stay.

Visitors, who may be admitted for periods ranging from two months to a full academic year, must be self-funded and bring their own health insurance for the duration of their stay.

Visitors are expected to participate fully and actively in the academic life of the Institute, interacting regularly with its members—for example, though not exclusively—through the various seminars and workshops organized by the Institute. Priority will therefore be given to applicants whose research agendas align with the work carried out at the IJL

To apply for a visiting researcher stay, please submit a formal application using the following form:

Application form

A research plan (1 page max)
CV (2 pages max)

Visiting stays will begin on either the 1st or the 15th of the selected month. Applications proposing alternative start dates will not be considered.

Deadlines:

To ensure full consideration, applications must be submitted by:

January 31st for visits beginning between September and December of the following academic year
September 1st for visits beginning between January and May of the following year

Applications submitted after these dates will only be considered in cases of exceptional space availability.

Selection Process

The Juan Linz Institute will consider only complete applications. Decisions will be communicated approximately:

End of February for applications submitted by January 31st (first deadline)
End of September for applications submitted by September 1st (second deadline)
