Full Scholarships

The UC3M Department of Social Sciences, the Juan Linz Institute, and Banco Santander fund a total of three full scholarships for the Master’s in Social Sciences. Application deadline: April 30, 2026.

Among these is the IJL–Francisco Cantú Full Scholarship, which commemorates his remarkable legacy, honors his memory, and seeks to support graduate students in their academic careers. This scholarship is awarded to the student with the best academic record among those selected for a full scholarship.

Francisco Cantú was an exceptionally talented, humble, and generous scholar with a genuine ability to identify relevant research questions and address them using cutting-edge methods. His innovative work on electoral fraud in Latin America was published in top political science journals before he turned 40. He spent a semester as a visiting scholar at the Department of Social Sciences and the Carlos III-Juan March Institute, where he left an indelible mark on the community.
